NEW ORLEANS -- Hundreds of modular homes bought by FEMA for victims of last year's hurricanes were damaged beyond repair as they sat unused and, in many cases, unprotected from the elements, the agency said Tuesday. The failure to protect the homes from the sun and rain while they were in storage was outlined in a report by the Homeland Security Department's inspector general. http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/wi...world-headlines |

Check this out. A Greg Palast google video about how FUBAR things still are in New Orleans back in late August, the one year anniversary of Katrina. Lots of other stuff. Like a firm located about a mile from my office with fraudulent contracts, public housing shut down in a land grab just off the French Quarter and other bullshit.
It's about an hour long with the video and an interview with Palast on Democracy Now from a couple of months ago. Police state is here kids. Watch the video. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7721859326791373209 |

i agree totally cary.
it is absolutely sickening that the first worry of the government down there was to make sure the superdome was repaired and rebuilt to the tune of 100 million dollars. think of how many homes could have been rebuilt. (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/angry.gif) |

Someone said on the video that these people, the Bush family, "have no shame". Well that just about says it all doesn't it. This sort of program should be on CNN and I think/hope it will be one day. Excellent documentary CARY -- Thanks for sharing.
Katrina -- the aftermath designed to KEEP PEOPLE OUT // NOT IN -- What an awareness this is!! Greed from those who brought greed to an all new level. Here's something: Weeks right after Katrina, I was watching CSPAN and listening to Congressman Shay (Connecticut) then acting as Chairman of some panel was questioning a few NO people (victims) on the House Floor -- one man stated in clear concise wording that he personally heard explosions right before those levy walls gave way. He was suggesting that someone (??) purposefully destroyed those walls; thereby, allowing (creating) those areas to be flooded and/or later evacuated. The Congressman sumarily dismissed this observation and went on to ask questions without any real substance or result -- we know this today because nothing basically has changed there except for those areas that those in position want changed // all others has been ignored. Keeping the people away from perfectly good homes, threatening former occupants who wish to return, and yet the American people are not fully aware or understanding this fact. Corruption beyond belief. And then thinking back even further (to the day of the Hurricane) and remembering Bush speaking on TV -- His 1/2 hour speech was pretty much divided into 25-minutes speaking about Iraq and their need to form a new government, and approximately 5-minutes (give or take) of expressed concern regarding the people along the Gulf coast -- This got me to wondering then exactly where it is this guy (Bush) thought he was President of -- Iraq or the USA? Not a thing has changed in my mind regarding this same question today. Highly recommend this video viewing for everyone. |

QUOTE (intellpro @ Nov 15 2006, 03:00 AM) Katrina was a mild chastisement for the sins of that city. buchenwald, I know you're Catholic and all that. Grew up in that religion myself. But do you really believe that God chatises people on earth for their wrong doings? If so, where is his chatisement of the evil people in power? Why would he wreak most of the havoc, death and destruction on those who were the most susceptable to it -- the poor, the sick, the elderly and children? That's one FUBAR god you got, picking on the weak, while allowing the real "evil doers" run amuck at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. JerryB, it wouldn't be the first time that the levees were blown to protect the wealthy sections of the city. In the early 1900's the levees were blown intentionally which flooded the lower parishes. And the reperations promised were not paid anywhere near to what was promised. They also forced poor blacks, at gun point in several instances, to stay on and work the levees during that hurricane, while the wealthy were evacuated and protected. |
