thank you for that.
just back from LA. thought i was listening to myself on that rant. my conclusions from the dinners i attended over this holiday period are these: 1. the "official" story is no longer accepted as ferociously as it once was 2. but everyone wants the real history, the real investigation, to go away. it is the past, they say, let it go. 3. and then i am taken aside and advised that there will be no discussion of these topics.... the events of 11/09/01 the invasions of afghanistan, iraq abu graib bagram gitmo dover afb i am older, more knowledgeable than any of these individuals at a top tier in the amerikan food chain. who are my hosts. my sister will often intercede successfully and persuade me to keep it to myself. but there is always one occasion when some punk challenges my patriotism. a punk who never wore a uniform. in fact, probably did gymnastics to avoid military service. always makes me wish that i was packing heat. i just pick up my cell and call a cab. and leave that scene of an intellectual crime. i ponder on how supine the amerikan electorate has decided to become in this era. even in the vietnam era, i don't recall such a massive level of prostration before the "emperor" and his gestapo by the populace. it seems as if the majority of the citizens of the usa prefer to adopt the "fictional" explanations. for a short itemization.... pearl harbor was a "surprise" attack. the "north" koreans invaded "south" korea the "north" vietnamese invaded "south" vietnam the "north" vietnamese in virtual zodiac boats attacked usn ships of the line etc, etc, etc. ad infinitum. from the wars you know, to those you didn't know of, or have forgotten. malaya, borneo, lebanon, hungary, cuba, haiti, dominican republic, surinam, angola, the congo, nigeria, algeria, chile, brazil, venezuela, uruguay, colombia, bolivia, argentina, salvador, nicaragua, panama, grenada, indonesia, timor, nepal, bosnia, serbia, libya, syria, iraq, iran, egypt. the usa....the erstwhile master of the universe. doing anything to promote military intervention across the planet. you know this, though, i think. why is this reality ignored by the bulk of the citizenry? venceremos? |

... why is this reality ignored by the bulk of the citizenry? ... I'm surprised you ask. What's in it for them? People are generally lazy and willfully stupid. Ignorance may not be "bliss" exactly but it is easier than being responsible for one's own actions -- not to mention that of your allegedly "representative" government. The whole edifice of so called "civilization" is one gigantic farce. All one has to do is look at what people pay attention to, where the biggest crowds are, what they spend their money on. There's the answer to your question. I've heard it said that US capitalism is "materialist" -- I disagree. What it is is "imagist" -- that is, what is valued is not the 'thing', nor the 'material' of which it is made, but the IMAGE it projects. Its all spit, shine and polish with virtually NO SUBSTANCE -- and that has come to define the American character over the last hundred years or so. It's shiny! It's sexy! It's NEW! It's fun, relaxing, deodorizing, cleansing, invigorating and BEST OF ALL it is cheap, cheap, CHEAP! 9/11 = Shock the Sheep In 1927 an American journalist wrote: A change has come over our democracy, it is called consumptionism. The American citizen's first importance to his country is now no longer that of citizen, but that of consumer. you have it accurately, painter. what was it that nellie forbush described herself as, "a cockeyed optimist".
i suppose that i am one of those, in a sense. after years of having lots of friends[sic], i now have a couple. and they are individuals that care to discuss the world etc. who seem to keep up with the news that doesn't get air. and, hell, i don't know why i am puzzled by the leviathan that is the ignorati. as we have discussed from time to time, my study of the history imparted to the citizens has always concluded that the "official" history has almost always been a cartoon drawn by an essentially monarchical/fascist state. i am thinking now of the recent dive on the lusitania. as everyone here may recall, it was the sinking of this passenger liner that allowed the first great fascist bastid of the amerikan 20th century to drive the usa into ww1. as i read the brief dispatches in the LAT, it seems that the lusitiania had made itself fair game as a combatant asset by having its cargo holds filled with munitions. kaiser bill's intelligence agents got it accurately. the usa was violating its declared neutrality and was becoming a co-belligerent. and similarly to the events of 11/09/01, the passengers[occupants] were not warned by the state that they might become victims of state machinations. how many passengers on the lusitania took their final swim because woody just had to join the war? lamentably, you are correct painter. and i see this each time i visit my sister and spend time with my nieces[18,21] and their friends. they have attended elite LA private schools, the zeniths of LA area public schools. they are nice young women. their male friends are also nice guys. jocks mainly. so far, i can only conclude that though they might get[have gotten] good grades, they know nothing. they are vidiots. the only topics that they can discuss are television shows, movies, and sprots. intellectually, they are rootabagas. sometimes, i think a rootabaga might be more sentient. the salient aspect of their lives is that THEY DO NOT READ. and this is not just true of them, it is true within their families. i have visited most of their families when visiting, and there is no space suitable for reading. and they all know me as a character because my sister has an armchair for me with a reading light in a room with no tv, only a stereo. when my sister's friends, her daughters' friends, come over when i am reading, in 20 years, no one has ever come over to ask what i am reading. and at social events[and these are amongst top of the food chain individuals], around a dinner table, there are no discussions of current events, history, financial catastrophes. the discussions revolve around the same topics discussed by my nieces and their friends[they are all vidiots]. when i try to discuss this with my sister, she responds that she knows no one that wants to discuss what i think should be the topics of the dinner table. and she says this in a tone as if my ideas of intellectual discourse are unusual, out of touch. and then i remind her of our youth....how it was that my friends would come to join our dinner table because we discussed the topics that were not discussed within their households[topics that they wanted to discuss]. and i remind her of our parents and their coterie of friends...who were always discussing the important issues - individual liberty, the role of the state, war, education, politics, history. and she made an interesting response....she said that i had the ego strength as a kid to join in those discussions, and that she didn't. and that she had come to hate that level of intellectual repartee. and she is not an ignorant woman, but, apparently, she is[has been] intimidated by some forms of discourse. but, to a large extent, i keep discovering a fear of things intellectual when i visit my family[and their friends] in LA. you know, LA is an intellectually alive city. but, with very rare exception, i encounter very few individuals who are attuned to those "offerings" on any regular basis. painter, you will appreciate this, i think. while i was in LA, the LACMA, in its japanese pavilion, was exhibiting a very fine assemblage of japanese paintings[screens]. absolute knock-out stuff in a knock-out space. while i was being knocked-out by the screen paintings, a docent caught me to invite me to her talk on some maki-e that i had never seen on display previously. really killer artistry. but i made a note of an interesting aspect of those attending the docent's talk and the screen exhibit, i was the only citizen of the usa attending. everyone else was a visitor from another country. this is not a unique situation, i have found. i could be getting it inaccurately, but it is continuing to occur to me that the usa is devolving. now some might say that my thoughts are the ruminations of an old curmudgeon. but i don't think so. something has changed in the usa. |

There's a lot in that, Albert -- and it is already 1:38 AM here and past my bed time. So, I can't even begin to respond at this hour beyond toasting you (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/cheers.gif) one curmudgeon to another!

this is not a unique situation, i have found. i could be getting it inaccurately, but it is continuing to occur to me that the usa is devolving. And the USA has exported its devolution strategy to Europe and the Antipodes. Not that we don't have our own promoters of the least significant factors. QUOTE now some might say that my thoughts are the ruminations of an old curmudgeon. but i don't think so. something has changed in the usa. I know exactly where you are Albert. I read much too (am currently reading about the Battle for Crete WW2 - not a shining example of upper echelon clear thinking and Robert Peston's 'Who Runs Britain' amongst others of the normal ten to a dozen books I have on the go at any one time). One of the few concessions I make is to watch an hour of TV in the evening, usually NCIS, CSI (but rather not those poseurs in the Miami strain), or Numbers (very far fetched at times so amusing in a way) as a means of having together time with the wife as other responsibilities keep us apart most of the time. Sadly few here want to look beyond the BBC broadcasts of an event, although surprisingly recent reporting on Israel and Gaza has been more robust that expected. |

Brilliant! Cannot believe my luck. I actually managed to watch a video clip for the first time in a month. Has this been captured and stored? We know how YouTube quickly delete stuff. Here is another video from a nearby (YouTube) link, same narrator I think, worth watching, title self explanatory: How to Destroy the 9/11 Truth Movement Edit: AceBaker features. Note: If mods would like to move that link elsewhere then please do. This post has been edited by Omega892R09: Jan 14 2009, 12:17 PM |
