NEW YORK, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Under the latest plan, the names of those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be grouped by workplace on the planned New York memorial.
However, the decision by the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation leaves many unsatisfied, the New York Times reports. Police officers and firefighters will be listed by command or precinct and company and civilian names will be put in a single list. While family members and co-workers will be grouped together, the names will look to the uninitiated as if they are in random order because company names will be omitted. Under the proposal, members of the uniformed services who were in the south tower or on the plane that hit that tower, those killed at the Pentagon and in the Pennsylvania crash of United 93, and those who died in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing will be around the southern memorial pool. Names of those killed in the north tower and the plane that hit it will be around the north pool. The previous plan had been to list all the names in random order. http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/view.php?Stor...14-051315-2312r |
