I received this email from Google -
QUOTE Dear Google Video User, Later this month, hosted video content on Google Video will no longer be available for playback. Google Video stopped taking uploads in May 2009 and now we’re removing the remaining hosted content. We've always maintained that the strength of Google Video is its ability to let people search videos from across the web, regardless of where those videos are hosted. And this move will enable us to focus on developing these technologies further to the benefit of searchers worldwide. On April 29, 2011, videos that have been uploaded to Google Video will no longer be available for playback. We’ve added a Download button to the video status page, so you can download any video content you want to save. If you don’t want to download your content, you don’t need to do anything. (The Download feature will be disabled after May 13, 2011.) We encourage you to move to your content to YouTube if you haven’t done so already. YouTube offers many video hosting options including the ability to share your videos privately or in an unlisted manner. To learn more go here. Here’s how to download your videos: 1. Go to the Video Status page. 2. To download a video to your computer, click the Download Video link located on the right side of each of your videos in the Actions column. Once a video has been downloaded, “Already Downloaded” will appear next to the Download Video link. If you have many videos on Google Video, you may need to use the paging controls located on the bottom right of the page to access them all. Please note: This download option will be available through May 13, 2011. Thank you for being a Google Video user. Sincerely, The Google Video Team © 2011 Google | 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 Google is a trademark of Google Inc. All other company and product names may be trademarks of the respective companies with which they are associated. You have received this mandatory email service announcement to update you about important changes to Google Video and your Google Video account. We have several of our presentations hosted on Google Video, albeit low quality. All of which can be downloaded. They are as follows. Pandora's Black Box - Chapter Two, Flight Of American 77 http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=7751 Flight Of United 93 Now On Google Video, Pandora's Black Box - Chapter Three http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=10228 9/11: Attack On The Pentagon - Official Release, Full Film Now Available to the Public on Google http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=15054 9/11: The North Flight Path (official Release), Aerodynamically Possible - Witness Compatible http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=15854 (This one is on Vimeo, but I'm still posting it here for those who wish to see it) Full Film - 9/11: World Trade Center Attack, Embedded and Streaming here! http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=19732 If anyone wishes to preserve the free streaming of the above presentations, please download them, upload to another host, and post the embed in the above corresponding threads. (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/dunno.gif) Somebody didn't "like" our videos? Or maybe they don't want us to "see" anything a whistleblower, or innocent citizen might upload from Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, or other "points of interest"? Nothing to see there folks... just move along now... (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/cleanup.gif) |

Yeah, I got the same letter and I must transfer a list of LP videos somewhere else, including subtitles I've translated. Youtube? Vimeo? any hints what's the best?

What's to keep us from creating a censorship-free site and search engine of our own? Who needs Google? Poople, anyone?

in case anyone needs it - ive been successfully using this pretty handy (free) tool for downloading and converting videos:
http://download.cnet.com/Any-Video-Convert...tml?tag=mncol;6 http://download.cnet.com/Any-Video-Convert...&tag=button http://www.any-video-converter.com/download-avc-free.php -its great for managing multiple downloads so you dont have to do them one by one, and works with google and youtube... |

This latest announcement from Google is quite interesting. They’ve inadvertently shot themselves in the foot.
Who has tried to log in to YouTube recently and been greeted with “YOU MUST LINK YOUR YOUTUBE ACCOUNT TO A GOOGLE ACCOUNT?” … “IF YOU DON’T, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOG IN TO YOUR YOUTUBE ACCOUNT AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR VIDEOS.” Google OWNS YouTube. The herding began a while ago. You need a Google account to be able to use YT. There was a grace period, but it’s over. At the time, I just saw it as Google wanted to get the control of all the videos out there. This message runs contrary to that. This message basically reveals they want the stuff GONE. Sure, they send out this latest missive “suggesting” we move our stuff to YT. But I repeat: Google OWNS YouTube. So why didn’t they just send us an email saying, “As of April 29, you content will now be available in YouTube.” ??? That would have been the right thing to do. Telling us their just going to delete our stuff is NOT the right thing to do, especially when your stated goal is “this move will enable us to focus on developing these technologies further to the benefit of searchers worldwide.” What about the 10-minute limit over at YT? No mention whatsoever about that in Googil’s latest note. I’m sure all the people who’ve uploaded lengthy videos will just relish the thought of chopping them up into bite-size pieces. Don’t be evil? Googil has just proved it is, regardless of whether they realize it or not. They probably do realize it, but just figured we're too dumb to figure it out. |

It's their excuse for Web2 of course. " We await Developing and Emerging Technologies" ... etc etc.
Balony! The big clampdown is under way, for when this stuff is no longer available for free, and easily, then statistics dictate that fewer people will get to see this content. That's what the stats will show. And when they've finished with that process, then the removal of people ...? After all 'People are only the carriers of ideas ...' Stay well awake. Anything is possible in a new world of all possibilities. This post has been edited by Graeme: Apr 21 2011, 06:29 AM |

Anything is possible in a new world of all possibilities. Moreover, it seems to be the case, and certainly is in my case, that if you DON'T ALREADY HAVE a GOOGLE account then Pressing: — 'Don't have a Google Account? Create an account now' » Leads to the page (in all browsers OPERA, FIREFOX and IE: I've just tried: 'Invalid Request') Maybe I'm just paranoid. But actually no. I can't create a new Account, to download these videos. Anyone Else get this page: Invalid Request on a proper formatted page? Moreover, I notice that educational and similar are still allowed to upload. They know when to attack: - When educational materials provided by the establishement organs, are to fulfill the 'Business as usual' niche. Looks like it's time to get buying these videos. I don't even have a standalone DVD or TV. I just don't do that stuff. But I can adapt if needs be. |

This story is PUBLISHED at 911NewsCentral.com.
Link: http://pligg.911newscentral.com/story.php?...911-truth-forum -------------------------------------------------------------------- My personal take on this: it's a move toward eliminating anonymity on the Web. At Google video, you could upload a video and remain anonymous. At Youtube, each video belongs to a person. I think that's the purpose behind this move, IMO. God bless the AMAZING 9/11 research done by the Pilots and may their videos be preserved. I see this is troubling and hope the Pilots group can overcome it soon. I have published this link on my site and hope it does its job. Happy Easter! This post has been edited by CuriousGeorge2: Apr 22 2011, 04:35 AM |

Yes, google wants to know who is online and they don't like anonymity.
That was my impression. i know there is only one of me, but google has shown me, that they are unsure of this, and need confirmation of my lone existence. The funniest thing was when i got an unnamed letter in the snail mail, containing 100 google dollars on a gift card! Now, the original meaning of google comes from a googol which is 1 with 100 zeros after it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Googol So i got 100 of them, in dollars. So if i take google at its' word, it has given me more wealth with that one card, than all the dollars in the world. Thankfully, for them, none of us (me) never used it. |

FYI I just got this today, this may make the switch a little easier for some:
"Dear Google Video User, Last week we sent an email letting you know we would be ending playbacks of Google Videos on April 29 and providing instructions on how to download videos currently hosted on the platform. Since then we've received feedback from you about making the migration off of Google Video easier. We work every day to make sure you have a great user experience and should have done better. Based on your feedback, here's what we're doing to fix things. Google Video users can rest assured that they won't be losing any of their content and we are eliminating the April 29 deadline. We will be working to automatically migrate your Google Videos to YouTube. In the meantime, your videos hosted on Google Video will remain accessible on the web and existing links to Google Videos will remain accessible. If you want to migrate to YouTube now, here's how you do it: * We've created an 'Upload Videos to YouTube' option on the Google Video status page. To do this, you'll need to have a YouTube account associated with your Google Video account (you can create one here). Before doing this you should read YouTube's Terms of Use and Copyright Policies. If you choose this option, we'll do our best to ensure your existing Google Video links continue to function. If you'd prefer to download your videos from Google Video, that option is still available. As we said nearly two years ago, the team is now focused on tackling the tough challenge of video search. We want to thank the millions of people around the world who have taken the time to create and share videos on Google Video. We hope today's improvements will help ease your transition to another video hosting service. Thank you for being a Google Video user. Sincerely, Mark Dochtermann Google Video Team" |
