http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonardo_da_Vinci Anyhow, i took this image and cut it in half, reversed his right side and pasted it over his left. He used to write everything reversed backwards, so it makes sense that he would have incorporated this backwards stuff into his art, too. Pretty amazing self portrait: (IMG:http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp210/rongrite/leonardo3.jpg) Yes, i made this, myself. |

Sort of a strange thing, to make a self portrait.
Knowing that all the future will think back to this image of yourself. So making an unflattering picture of yourself, could be expected. But genius can hide well. i think that this was made as a half picture of a forward look, and the other half was added in, afterward, to make it look humble. (what does a bigger nose mean, anyway?) (IMG:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/ba/Leonardo_self.jpg) A mirror could be used today,( or yesteryear) to see this same image, in the original red chalk drawing. The Mona-Lisa smile, is nothing, compared to the mirrored daVinci look. (IMG:http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp210/rongrite/leonardo3.jpg) i'm pretty sure that this picture is no coincidence. Also earlier painting of Leonardo, showed him with a smaller, more pointy nose. (IMG:http://www.popcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/da-vinci-leonardo.jpg) |

What is even funnier is I was readings "Lights" post at Mosque Madness and thought of Tom Hanks in the Da Vinci Code movie where the church murdered thousands of their own women.
Since 326 AD, the Christians hold the world record on killing. |

What is even funnier is I was readings "Lights" post at Mosque Madness and thought of Tom Hanks in the Da Vinci Code movie where the church murdered thousands of their own women. Since 326 AD, the Christians hold the world record on killing. Yes but remember the church of yesteryear, held the same power as the "experts" and unnamed "scientists" of today. Regardless, Leonardo da Vinci was recognized as a genius of his day. The thought here is that he used mirroring images, in his paintings, as well as his writings. He was totally studying human symmetry. It makes total sense to me that he would have hidden a real image of himself into an unflattering, self portrait of himself, with an exaggerated nose! Look at the reflected image of half his face. There is a depth, and intelligence, looking straight at you! The more i think about it the more i realize this was intentionally done and cleverly hidden, by the artist, and can be seen, with just a mirror. But look at this intense "look"! (IMG:http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp210/rongrite/leonardo3.jpg) The picture says it all! |

Mirror can focus or distort light.
Water is a mirror, as well as obsidian or polished copper. What methods of light manipulation did Leonardo use? Like the Shroud of Turin? |

Mirror can focus or distort light. Water is a mirror, as well as obsidian or polished copper. What methods of light manipulation did Leonardo use? Like the Shroud of Turin? Blackened glass. If a candle is held near, under a piece of glass, carbon black accumulates upon one side of it, the other side becomes a mirror. All his writings, are readable in a mirror. (and he was really into human symmetry, too) (IMG:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/22/Da_Vinci_Vitruve_Luc_Viatour.jpg) This is why i think this was intentional, hidden self portrait. i'm sure there are other things he hid through reflection, in his other works, too. But this is so simple and obvious, people must have asked him, at the time, why he portrayed himself with such a bulbus shnoz? (IMG:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/ba/Leonardo_self.jpg) i think he must have had quite a sense of humor.

Yes, and I'm pretty sure he was having fun with the Shroud too.

Good job…
Why is the face so…rectangular? This would not be normal for a dead person. |

Why is the face so…rectangular? Artists sometimes use simple geometric shapes as a basis for their paintings. Everything can be seen as just triangles and columns, from different perspectives. (a circle is looking, end on, to a column, and a square is 2 triangles.) |

QUOTE QUOTE (Tamborine man @ Nov 26 2010, 06:17 PM) Who better to describe and to define the nature of a "Strange Genius", than the one who knows all about its workings both 'inside' and out? Or who better to describe the scary, exciting, tumultuous, uplifting, life of a test pilot, than the experienced test pilot himself? Easy answers! Elreb, you're nothing but a very, very old soul. Lunk could be napping at your heals, for all I know! ....... no doubt about it. Leonardo was born on April 15, 1452, "at the third hour of the night...napping at my heals... Somehow, I get the feeling that the “Last Supper” plays into this game. Why is Mary always left out of history? The early Church fathers had a problem with a married Jesus. Mary was, of course, his wife. Examine the wedding at Cana. Jesus' mother Mary is giving orders to the servants just as if (!) she were the hostess. Because she was. What occurred at this wedding that obligated Jesus to change the water into wine? Kind of a heavy deal for just anybody's wedding, but not for his own. The marriage happened. It was actually a dynastic alliance of families, making Jesus the Nazarene. literally, "the King of the Jews." This status had to be at least made debatable, which was done semantically during translations. The terms "soma" (live body) and ptoma (carcass) are used rather loosely. So the early Church fathers took into account that there was much knowledge of what really happened, and could not hope to erase Mary (Jesus' wife), but they could blacken her name, eliminate any mention of any affiliations with her. Make her a whore. Instead of being Jesus "favorite disciple", she was reduced to "one of the boys, sort of". So instead of getting her own gospel, she gets the street instead. But it was Mary's brother, Lazarus, (aka "the beloved disciple" {which is how the writer refers to himself in the gospel of John}, "Eliazar" or some variant), who provided the ass for Jesus to ride into Jerusalem. A close co-conspirator? Who more natural than your brother-in-law to-be, and both of you being of royal blood? St. Peter, (on whom the church was founded) was a terrible misogynist, and this effort to minimize Mary in all ways would have been in keeping with his beliefs. |

The marriage happened. It was actually a dynastic alliance of families, making Jesus the Nazarene. literally, "the King of the Jews." The sad part is that the "Real Jesus" did not come from Nazarene but he was indeed a real king of more than just a few Jews. King of kings is a give away... There were actually three Marys and two Jesus' and no one was lynched by the Romans. |
