I shouldn't have to explain this one. Read the whole thing. REALLY
http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=57375 FBI suppressed video of TWA explosion More than six years after retired United Airline captain Ray Lahr launched his Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, petition into the fate of TWA Flight 800, the FBI has shown him –likely by accident – one seriously smoking gun. The Boeing 747 blew up off the coast of Long Island on July 17, 1996. One of the FBI documents received recently by Lahr and his attorney, John Clarke of Washington, D.C., details a communication that took place six days after the crash: "On Tuesday, July 23, 1996, a representative from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) advised [the FBI] that after a visual analysis of both the videotape as well as a number of still photographs taken from various portions of the tape, the phenomenon captured by [name redacted] appeared to be consistent with the exhaust plume from a MANPAD [Man-portable air-defense] missile." "The FBI guy who looked at this must not have read it, or not have realized what it would reveal," says Lahr. "Otherwise he would have redacted most of it as before." Adding a new level of intrigue to the investigation is the fact that the video in question appears to have been shot on July 12, 1996, five days before the crash. ........ There was no reference at all to the video analyzed by the DIA. In fact, there was no public mention of the DIA. The MSIC analysis was relegated to a footnote. Nor, of course, was there any mention of the video shot on the night of July 17. From the beginning, there has been ample evidence that an amateur video had been taken of TWA Flight 800's destruction. Although I have not seen the July 17 video, I have heard from scores, if not hundreds, of credible people who swear they saw it on television in the first hours after the crash. Some have described it to me and other independent investigators in perfect detail. |

I've heard the story of TWA flight 800 being shot down with a shoulder mounted rocket. I've never heard what was the motivation. Any background on that? Somebody on the plane that needed to go away? A warning to someone? Just curious. Motive explains a lot.

Maybe I missed the book, but I wonder if anybody has written about the list of passengers onboard TWA 800. If it was an intentional shoot down, it would have been to get rid of somebody onboard, is my guess. The other possibility is that it was a training accident of some sort.
I have thought that it was a takedown, accidental or otherwise, since the first day, only because of Bill Clinton's mannerisms and body language in announcing the crash. It was sheer coincidence that I caught it on TV, but I knew then than Clinton was making stuff up. The sure giveaway was when the FBI was named the lead agency in the investigation, instead of the NTSB. This post has been edited by amazed!: Aug 31 2007, 09:00 AM |

I haven't read any of his work, but I recall that Peter Lance was cited fairly heavily in a chapter of DRG's 9/11 report critique. Had some interesting things in it about how the cover up was decided on, I think. It's been awhile since I've read Omissions and Distortions, so I don't recall details ATM.
Anyhoo, googling "peter lance" "twa 800" gives 730 results currently. Might be some more info at some of those sites. |

In the U.K. at 7.30.a.m.on the morning that the disaster happened, a news tape was shown on the B.B.C. showing what appeared to be the track of a missile hitting TWA 800.
It was shown only on the first news bulletin of the morning, but was not shown subsequently. I wonder why. |
