Brilliant and extremely revealing article:
Former Obama Advisor and CFR VP says 100,000+ Troops, 10+ more years needed in Afghanistan QUOTE “The indications are that, you know, he’s gonna be going big in Afghanistan.” [...] “I think what the president has to say if he wants to do it is be honest with the American people and say, ‘Look, if you want to do this, and you want to do it right, you’re going to be there for another ten years.’” Korb said. [...] “You’re gonna have to have at least 100,000 troops… and what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna put the troops in the areas to protect the population [inaud] where the Taliban is. That’s gonna be more casualities, okay? And you’re gonna have to do that, and it’s gonna be expensive.” Read the whole article and watch the youtube videos linked listen to the guy squirm when questioned about the truth behind 9/11. Disgusting. |

You can see from his "narco state" comments that he is willing to play dumb to sell his agenda, but you can also clearly see his arrogance and elitist attitude if you watch the whole video. It seems to me that he was going to try to take a more neutral stance and act like the 9/11 Commission wasn't so bad (even though he knew better) until the questioner pointed out that even the commissioners said the investigation was obstructed, and then his pride wouldn't let him continue to act THAT dumb.
Also, notice the way the question about 9/11 was phrased. The questioner didn't just ask "do you support a new investigation", he said "in light of the fact that we know that there’s been a lot of false flag events perpetrated by the United States – there was the Gulf of Tonkin, Operation Gladio in Europe, the U.S.S. Liberty Incident – why wasn’t there a proper investigation of 9/11? And do you support a new investigation?" So, I think it's tellng that Korb doesn't come out and deny that it was a false flag attack. Again, this guy is no dummy. If all of us "average Joes" with no insider connections know for a fact that 9/11 was a military black op, it's not reasonable to assume that Korb is ignorant of this fact. It's just like earlier in the video when someone is talking about the military being used domestically, and he makes faces like he doesn't know what they're talking about, but then when he is asked point blank "have you heard about that" he doesn't deny it. Report: Afghan Insurgents Demand Timetable for US Withdrawal Meanwhile, the New York Times reports leaders of the Taliban and other groups are discussing a potential peace agreement through intermediaries. The militant groups are reportedly demanding a timetable for the withdrawal of US troops as a precondition for laying down their arms. Senate Votes Down Gitmo Closure Funding Senate Democrats have followed through with a pledge to block funding for the closure of the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay. On Wednesday, the Democratic-led Senate voted 90-to-6 to remove $80 million from a war appropriations bill that would have gone toward closing Guantanamo Bay and investigating torture there. Lawmakers have called on Obama to submit details on his plans for closing Guantanamo. Democratic Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois was one of the six to vote against stripping the funds. Sen. Dick Durbin: "What happened in Abu Ghraib and what happened at Guantanamo has sullied the reputation of the United States and has endangered alliances which we've counted on for decades. President Obama is trying to change that. By closing Guantanamo and responsibly allocating those detainees to safe and secure positions, he is going to send a message to the world that it's a new day in terms of America's foreign policy." Obama Considers "Preventive Detention" for Indefinite Jailings The Obama administration, meanwhile, is reportedly considering a "preventive detention" system that would indefinitely jail terror suspects in the United States without bringing them to trial. The New York Times reports President Obama discussed the proposal at a meeting with human rights advocates at the White House. Two anonymous advocates told the Times that Obama indicated he favored applying the system to future cases, not prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay. Obama is set to deliver a speech later today outlining his plans on how to deal with closing Guantanamo. Court Rules US Can Hold Prisoners Without Charge A federal judge has ruled the government can continue to indefinitely jail prisoners without charge. In a ruling this week, US District Judge John Bates said anyone determined to have engaged in clashes with the US military or its allies, or to have belonged to the Taliban or al-Qaeda, can be held without trial. But Bates also rejected the Obama administration's assertion it can jail anyone who "supports" those groups. The ruling came in a case challenging the jailing of several Guantanamo prisoners. Pentagon Report Says 1 in 7 Freed Gitmo Prisoners Engage in Militancy A newly disclosed Pentagon report says that about one in seven of the 534 prisoners released from Guantanamo Bay have gone on to engage in militant activity. Opponents of due process rights are expected to use the report to advance their arguments in favor of the continued indefinite jailing of Guantanamo prisoners. But as with prior claims, the Pentagon report offers few details and prevents independent verification. Of the seventy-four prisoners said to have engaged in militancy after their release, only five can be independently verified to have actually engaged in or threatened to carry out militant acts. The report also fails to say how many of the former prisoners were believed to have gone on to militant activity as a result of their torture at Guantanamo. The most deadly act by a former Guantanamo prisoner was carried out by Kuwaiti national Abdallah al-Ajmi, who drove a bomb-laden truck into an Iraqi army base in March 2008, killing thirteen people. Al-Ajmi's attorney has said he was radicalized and left mentally unstable following his four years at Guantanamo. Blackwater Contractors Flee Afghanistan to Avoid Charges Two US contractors with the private military firm formerly known as Blackwater have reportedly fled Afghanistan to avoid prosecution for a fatal unprovoked shooting earlier this month. The two fleeing contractors and another two colleagues reportedly fired on a vehicle in Kabul after a night of drinking. One Afghan civilian was killed and another two were wounded in the attack. The contractors say Blackwater supplied them with guns even though the Pentagon hadn't granted them authorization. Defense attorney Daniel Callahan identified the two fleeing contractors as Steve McClain and Justin Cannon. Callahan says they fled their compound on Saturday and have now made it back to the United States. Probe: US Gave KBR $83M in Bonuses Despite Electrocutions A congressional probe has found the US Army paid more than $83 million in bonuses to the military contractor KBR, despite its responsibility for the electrocution deaths of at least four troops in Iraq. On Wednesday, Senate Democratic Policy Committee chair Byron Dorgan accused the military of "stunning incompetence" for rewarding KBR. In addition to the four electrocution deaths, hundreds of troops have received electrical shocks because of KBR's electrical work in Iraq. The committee's probe says more than half of the bonuses were awarded after the Pentagon first heeded warnings about the electrocutions. KBR is a former subsidiary of Halliburton, the company formerly run by Dick Cheney. |

As foreshadowed six months ago by in the article in the OP of this thread (Former Obama Advisor and CFR VP says 100,000+ Troops, 10+ more years needed in Afghanistan), the UK's Telegraph is now reporting:
QUOTE United States to send 'up to 45,000 more troops to Afghanistan'
President Barack Obama's administration is understood to have told the British government that it could announce, as early as next week, the substantial increase to its 65,000 troops already serving there. Click here to read the rest This post has been edited by Ligon: Oct 16 2009, 12:55 AM |

there must be a war. there must be "blood in your face" agitprop. without it, magnificent looting of the treasury could not occur as easily.
this is the lesson that the mob learned during ww2. oh, i understand, many don't think that the mob was so unpatriotic as to exploit the supply vulnerabilities/ration vulnerabilities during ww2 years. but it did. so far, that is an unwritten history. just as harry truman's role as the mob's fixer arranged for the future wars in asia so as to enrich his mentor, initially prendergast, but by the korean invasion, i think it was nick civella[sic]. an oddity of this invasion was how the japanese syndicates[yakuza] were seeded and enriched[this caused them to control the japanese political parties, especially the ldp. during this invasion, many us corporations[gm is one that i know about] used yakuza entities to supply the us forces in korea. in fact, a yakuza entity became the detroit diesel[gm] rep for japan during that invasion. after old harry showed the syndicate how it could extract the lucre of the ustreasury and escape scrutiny, it became a free for all. the consequences you are suffering from today[unless you are a bankster]. just to finish this up, i think that in the past i have mentioned sam adams[cia analyst] who wrote an autobio entitled WAR OF NUMBERS. sam was the junkyard dog cia critic of the jcs[bill westmoreland/lbj] order of battle. essentially, sam said that the accurate analysis of the order of battle arrayed opposing the us invasion of vietnam[even in the southern half of that country] was the entirety of the population of that southern division. of course, what this meant was that to successfully counter this array of opposition, the usa was going to have to go to a ww2 war footing. and invest more than 2,000,000 - 5,000,000 million combat troops to have a chance at prevailing. but since military success wasn't the objective, looting was, this level of combat troop investment would not be made. and as sam adams related, the actual opposition order of battle was ignored. a similar situation exists in afghanistan now. to pacify[sic] that country will require at least 1,000,000 combat troops. an investment similar to ww2. this does not include remfs. this is the reality that dares not be recognized. for if this order of battle reality were to gain publication, the u s populace would not support that level of investment. it would say that afghanistan is not worth that. i would love to see just one goddam journalist discuss order of battle issues. wouldn't you? |

certainly no change... yes QUOTE wars are not for winning... Of course QUOTE they are kept alive for making money Ditto QUOTE sad but true... Sadly QUOTE see zeitgeist ..... Uhm, the 1st 3rd of Zeitgeist is almost all inaccurate. The Christ/Horus connections are mostly a figment of his and his two sources' imaginations, any amount of research into the various allegations reveals this to be true. True Egyptologists don't even bother addressing the claims of his sources, they being completely unsupportable. The later parts of Zeitgeist are pretty well done (with the exception of his attributing the 'one-world-government' quote to Paul Warburg when it was actually his son, James Warburg ... sheesh...), but with regard to religion, he doesn't know what he's talking about. ... FYI. Peter Joseph is a really talented film-maker ... and a pretty smart guy, ... but a poor researcher who has jumped to a conclusion that is not only false, but is the antithesis of the reality - the current ruling elite and the Catholic Church are millennium-old rivals. |

“I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank.” - Barack Obama October 27, 2007
