Yes, it's dangerous, maybe even immoral by today's standards, to advocate for peace.

As much as I respect Kuchinich for trying to get Bush and Cheney impeached, this tells me he is a little lost. All we really need to do is stop killing everyone ... just one crazy idea, lose any department at the CIA which is not soley involved in intelligence gathering. My gaawwd, this OFFICIAL gov. intelligence site states that the CIA conducts covert operations !
http://www.intelligence.gov/1-members.shtml

"CIA also collects intelligence with human sources and, on occasion, undertakes covert actions at the direction of the President. (A covert action is an activity or activities of the US Government to influence political, economic, or military conditions abroad, where it is intended that the US role will not be apparent or acknowledged publicly.)"

We don't need a frikken "Department of Peace", the US needs to cut down on killing and torturing people !

Sadly I agree. It is just another Department of Redundancy Department.

What we need is to use the laws we have. Last I checked mass murder and treason were illegal.

If war profiteering isn't, well, maybe it ought to be. Just like central banks.

I've gotta say, seeing this thread and the responses it gets here saddens me greatly. Tell me this- would Gandhi be ridiculing this idea? Would MLK? John Lennon? Do any of you have any admiration whatsoever for any of the above named persons? Well then, WTF is so ridiculous here?

Water

You need to read this reduculous bill.

It would create a vast 'army' to police and confiscate guns --among other things (parts of the BATF would be transfered to the DOP

It also is a colossal waste of money

Acadamies "modeled after the military acadamies"

mandatory 5 years service

And this is a bad idea because? You think West Point graduates don't have mandatory service requirements upon graduation as well? I'll look into the other things you mention...

Probably. I think they would be smart enough to see it for the farce that it is. I can create something called The Department of Happy Clown Candy Land for the Betterification of Mankind but someone being opposed to this wouldn't necessarily be against clowns, candy, or being better....would they?

Also: Ghandi was racist. thumbdown.gif

We don't need MORE departments. We need LESS departments, and to make those left DO THEIR JOBS following the Constitution and the law.

Exactly my point, Jo

That is the way the Feral government works

Bureaucracies just keep growing and growing -- it is their primary function

Yeah, and you are perfect, right? Perfectly anonymous. Let's just let this forum die a quiet death except when we want to stomp on Kookinich. That'll show 'em. Seig Heil the Ron Paul or nobody for President lemmings! Kooky Kookinich is a gun grabber. BOOGA. Sick of the BS. Have fun at your little partay, crew. I'm tired of trying to be a voice of reason here. Ciao.

Bwhahhaaa laugh.gif ....No, I am not. But I can proudly say I don't believe brown people from the continent of Africa are inferior to me, as did Ghandi. smile.gif

Actually, a lot of people that listen to my show know me personally. But I don't see your point. If you've ever gotten death threats via email or know anything about ID theft, you'd understand why I am not keen to divulge who I am on public forums. But in any case, you're not handing out business cards either so, kindly take you hypocrisy elsewhere.

No clue what you are a blabbering about...and you are hardly a voice of reason. Defending racist isn't very reasonable.

Bye. thumbsup.gif

Hey, WD, I fancy Kucinich over Paul myself if for no other reason that he can use the word "consciousness" correctly in a sentence. Fact is, though, to start with we don't need more laws -- we need to use the laws we have. Treason mass murder and war crimes are CRIMES.

If the Constitution were adhered to the Federal Reserve could not exist -- and it is one of the drive wheels of war. One can begin to talk about a "Department of Peace" once the market that drives the machinery of war has been brought to heel. We're never going to see a world at peace, no matter how many "Departments" we create, so long as war profiteering is at the core of global commerce and economics -- as it is. Change the fundamental structure of wealth creation -- by first of all getting control of our own money -- and war will become obsolete. After that, let the esoteric traditions do their job of helping humankind find a new, conscious relationship to their inner most selves.

It isn't easy getting along with people who come from such divergent backgrounds. Sometimes we need to take a break. None of us would care (or be here) if this weren't so damn important.

WD, you're not going anywhere.

Others, please try to remain civil. Talking politics tends to bring out the passion in people, but we can still remain civil. Remember, we are all on the same side. The left/right BS will tear apart any solid unity. Lets not let that happen to us.

Bill, please edit the title of this thread to reflect the proper spelling of the mans name.

Please be civil all. I will have no choice but to start handing out warnings if the bickering continues. I cant remember the last time i handed out a warning, suspension or ban its been so long ago, but i still know how to use the panel. wink.gif

Discussion on these topics is healthy and its good to see everyone taking interest. Try to disagree respectfully. We are better than what has been seen lately on this forum in the campaign threads.

Rob

(PS, my take on the whole issue is less govt is better.. period. Didnt Hitler have something similar to a "Dept of Peace"?)

Dude, lets not go there. There is a long history of disinformation, distortion and disorientation that has infected both sides of the American political landscape. In fact, they divided it up that way. I'm an old hippie -- don't know how you'd describe yourself -- possibly an educated gun-toting red neck. No offense meant. Point is, whatever our differences, we have more in common than THEY want us to know because THEY depend upon us never agreeing on anything and uniting against THEM.

OK?

Right, so now its up to us to clarify the facts and spread truth.

QUOTE

Not at all. Many of my friends are hippies and I used to follow around Phish and other jambands. I am a renaissance man. I am into everything. I like to play chess, classical and jazz guitar as well as shoot skeet with my Remington 12 gauge. I don't easily fit into a box.

QUOTE

There is definitely some truth to that. But there are some things that are simply correct, and other things that are simply not correct.

Giving up your firearms or allowing the very govt that seeks to kill you to make it more difficult to get one, or so that they can tag and track who owns them, is ABSOLUTE LUNACY. Holding hands and singing "Come on people now...smile on your brother..." isn't gonna solve sh^t. I'm not saying Kucinich is some awful person. I'm just saying many of his opinions are silly and he has very little political viability. He and many of his supporters are extremely naive.
