i wonder, did the word "gene" come from "Genesis",
or was it the other way around?

Before genetic modification,
it would have been, the gene, as is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene

But when was the word gene first used?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gene

QUOTE
Origin:
1911; < G Gen (1909), appar. abstracted from -gen -gen; introduced by Danish geneticist Wilhelm L. Johannsen (18571927)

Who was?
http://www.answers.com/topic/wilhelm-johannsen

QUOTE
Danish botanist and geneticist. He supported Hugo de Vries's discovery that variation in genotype can occur by mutation; the new character, while independent of natural selection in its initial occurrence, is then subject to natural selection. Johannsen's Elements of Heredity (1909) became an influential text, and his terms phenotype and genotype are now a part of the language of genetics.

but he supported Hugo de Vries?

http://www.answers.com/topic/hugo-de-vries

QUOTE
Dutch botanist and geneticist. He taught at the University of Amsterdam (1878 1918), where he introduced the experimental study of organic evolution. His rediscovery in 1900 (simultaneously with Carl Erich Correns and Erich Tschermak von Seysenegg) of Gregor Mendel's principles of heredity and his own theory of biological mutation explained concepts about the nature of variation of species

Funny words, "rediscovery" and "simultaneously"
like everyone got the same idea at once...
Creation, natural selection, selective breeding, genetic modification...

Who begat who?

Surely the ruling class must have known, long before this, that genetic traits were passed down through generations, or they never would have created Charles Darwin.

Talk about unnatural selection!

They have a name for this in farming,
it is called in-line breeding,
the idea is that the offspring will always have the same traits.

"They" definitely know all about it and sometimes I wonder if what we're seeing unfold these days isn't the end of the line for "them". Lets face it their total insanity could only have been achieved after generations of breeding between the lines and It's taking It's toll.

There are fewer breeds of farm chickens these days,
than just a few years ago.
Inline breeding can only go on for so long, i think,
we cannot live by traits alone.

The meat birds (chickens) look like turkeys and they can barely get up from the feed trough to get water.
i think it is impossible to just genetically string together DNA and get a life-form that can go on existing and reproducing forever,
without the tried and true test of time,
like millions of years.

Yep, this is the thread.

George Ure wrote about this site at
http://urbansurvival.com

Like computer languages,
Hebrew writing, apparently has an error correcting method, built in.
The original meanings of the book of Genesis has been revised,
and corrected, and the original, is not the same as the present.

This is very interesting material,
i'm not sure what it all means.

The website is
