The Sudanese government together with the Janjaweed militia have launched new attacks in northern Darfur, the African Union (AU) has said.
The AU said the ground and air offensive was a flagrant violation of security agreements. It said there had been a heavy toll on a civilian population. Rebels in the area said 70 people had died. Earlier, Sudan welcomed the UN's support for AU peacekeepers in Darfur but denied the UN will take command. The AU said in a statement that Birmaza, a much fought over village in Darfur, had been subject to ground and aerial assault. The statement said there had been heavy casualties among the civilian population, but gave no figures. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6161692.stm ( this has gone far enough. I'm going to go back and find the original posting with the save datfur petition to the president in it and pin it. please, imagine these were your relatives, friends, neighbors, yourself. sign the petition. sign it again. tell the president, we don't give a flying flick about how it gets done but demand it of him, our congress, our senate. we are a loud voice when we want something. let's get louder. write a letter to the white house, to your congressman, to your senator, to the local city council, to anyone who has a say in government policy. ENOUGH! LET"S ROLL! PRESIDENT BUSH! STOP THE GENOCIDE NOW! ) (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/angry.gif) This post has been edited by batmanchester: Nov 18 2006, 03:10 PM |
