Police Bomb Squad At Ground Zero, What are they doing? Options

Hi all found this footage in a recent release of video's from NIST in a FOIA request.
This video shows members of a police bomb squad unit at night at ground zero standing
near the base of the perimiter columns sticking out of the ground from either the south
tower or the north tower.

But the question remains is what exactly are they doing there? Do they suspect something
might have happened involving the use of explosive devices? Or could they be there just to
help out?

Please post any thoughts you may have i would be interested to hear them.
