The documents - entitled Confidential and Predecisonal Document NIST Report on Building 7 - form the preamble for a long-awaited final verdict on what caused a structurally reinforced building to fall like a controlled demolition despite suffering relatively minimal fire damage.

Chapter 1: WTC 7 Visual Evidence, Damage Estimates, and Timeline Analysis (William Pitts) is a thorough analysis of window fires by video and picture evidence, which concludes that all major fires before floors 7 and 13 died out prior to collapse.

The report states, "At 4:38 p.m. all of the windows between 13-44A and 13-47C were open, and the fires responsible for opening the windows had died down to the point where they could no longer be observed."

"Just prior to the collapse of the building at 5:20:52 p.m. a jet of flames was pushed from windows in the same area. The event that caused this unusual behavior has not been identified."

A very interesting read, but I have been unable to connect to any of the document links cited. Has anyone else seen/read this and had an opportunity to evaluate???

tells us on pages 160 & 161 of 172

"13th Floor
The first visual evidence for burning on the 13th floor was seen on the east face around 2:30 p.m. An untimed photograph showed intense smoke and flame coming from windows across much of the face somewhat later. The evidence suggests that a fire burned along the east side of the face, turned at the northeast corner, and began spreading across the north face. Details concerning between 13-44A and 13-47C were open, and the fires responsible for opening the windows had died down to the point where they could no longer be observed.

The next time that flames were observed on the floor was around 5:00 p.m. when intense burning was observed between windows 13-53D and 13-54D. Just prior to the collapse of the building at 5:20:52 p.m. a jet of flames was pushed from windows in the same area. The event that caused this unusual behavior has not been identified.
The limited smoke and external burning observed on the north face indicated that the effluent from fires along the north edge of the 13th floor vented elsewhere form the building."
