There was a fire that manifested the new phenomenon of thermal expansion which caused a critical column to fail and turned the other steel into dominoes which fell down inside a house of cards which afterwards fell down because the dominoes were gone.

Is that how it goes? (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

While I'm still not convinced of NIST's [overly-"ambitious" IMHO] temperature estimates based "upon video and photographs" and not steel evidence for WTC7...

Here is some technical information on linear, area, and volumetric thermal expansion. This really isn't all that dramatic for steel, with thermal expansion coefficients of 13E-06/deg_C or 7.2E-06/deg_F. (These are generally given in inch per inch or cm per cm, so length units are somewhat moot).

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/tables/thexp.html

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase...o/thexp.html#c1

If we had some evidentially-supported temperature numbers, it would be quite easy to fairly accurately estimate a linear thermal expansion length for the dreaded "54 foot span."

EDIT: delta_L = alpha * delta_T * L_0,
where alpha is the thermal coefficient given for steel above, delta_T= change in temperature, L_0=54 feet=648inch = 1645.92cm=16.46m

delta_L would then be the change in length that was yesterday attributed to cause WTC7's collapse.

So much for the assertions of Popular Mechanics magazine!!

How about a great big round of applause for NIST!

Great big mystery solved and new phenomenon observed as well....thermal expansion..WOW.

Thermal and expansion..together..who da thunk? What's next, contraction? Hey let's not get crazy here.

They've also put demolition companies out of business; rendered them unneccesary. Just turn the sprinkler system off, heat up one beam and presto .. symmetric rapid collapse. When is fireproofing not fireproofing? The hits just keep coming. That was worth the 7 year wait, don't you think?

In the middle ages, there was no science. The world was believed to behave in ways which conformed to religious dogma. Then Gallileo came along, Newton, Pasteur. Scientific traditions were born, empirical thinking won over blind faith. Mankind was propelled into the modern age.

And now has taken a giant step backwards. When learned people start believing that "thermal expansion" causes a 47 storey building to fall down, we got a big problem.

Sham Sunder deserves a NO-BELL prize for such a discovery, surely. (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/whistle.gif)

'new phenomenon' ? Give me a break!

Comment not aimed at you Turbo.

'Thermal expansion' a new phenomenon!

WTF do you think INVAR steel was developed for! Sunder you are now a joke or given your qualifications a liar.

For government employees, it is all about staying "on message." Just as in the case with the FBI's and the NTSB's excuse for not positively identifying aircraft wreckage, "the identities of the 9/11 aircraft were never in question," so, too, with NIST: "the means available for the buildings' collapses has never been in question." They have plane impact and fire and in the case of 7 only fire and falling debris. That is the message and any evidence which falls outside that message is not admitted.

What caused the fires present in 7? Is there ANY explanation emanating from government sources for the destruction witnessed by Barry Jennings prior to 1 and 2 collapse? The answer is "no" and the reason is this evidence falls outside the message and can not admitted.

Same thing for the CIT "south side" witnesses. There has not been and will never be any offical government statement addressing the contradiction between what was witnessed and the damage observed because, to be frank, they are logically irreconcilable. One or the other could be true but both can not be true. Since, in these instances, "true" is predetermined by the "message," anything outside that closely drawn circle is treated a) as if it does not exist or b) (should 'a' fail) as if it is without relevance or credibility.

IMO NIST has just done the 9/11 truth community a huge favor with their lame "thermal expansion" explanation. Anyone on the fence waiting for this 7 year long awaited conclusion cant surely be convinced now of the OCT. Or at least anyone with a half-opened mind I should say. So far all I've posted on my forum is the press release, the video page and the Q&A. The NIST report is so transparent it needs no debunking.

Yet I see that the tenaciously blind take it as gospel. Might as well face it, truth ain't for everybody.

Wouldn't it have been easier and LOTS CHEAPER if Sunder/NIST just looked over here a few years ago?
