this report has some information I have not seen before

especially the connection with Barium salts and RADAR enhancements for military use

I have seen this exact thing here in the Midwest numerous times

I now am carrying my trusty Canon power shot with me at all times. hopefully I'll record one of these, they aren't all that uncommon

Or maybe the pilot just wanted to see what happens when he shut the engines down for a few seonds

Here you go Bill. I took this one about a week ago over "dry" western US skies. Looks like the pilot of "CT airlines" shut them down twice for the helluvit here, and I might have some of lunk's waves there too (I was in a moving vehicle when taking that).

Travis, of the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater. His team presented their results at an American Meteorological Society conference in Portland, Oregon.

Large contrails, he said, only form when the cruising-altitude atmosphere is both sufficiently moist and sufficiently cool (somewhere in the range of minus 40 to minus 65 degrees Celsius). The skies above the Southwest are typically too dry, and the skies above the deep South are too hot for extended contrail coverage.

These factors plus the varying density of air traffic over different parts of the country combine to make the skies in the Midwest and Northeast -- and, to a lesser extent, the Pacific Northwest -- particularly laden with contrails. "

Ummm, so WTF am I seeing over the ~12% relative humidity desert below?

I see 2 legitimate contrails here, and something else:

Here is another legitimate contrail in a blue sky, but WTF is up with that other color of sky in the lower photo? That is not cloud cover, and there was frost on the windshield that morning (an outdoorsman's precipitation guide BTW).

I frequent the remote, relatively "spray-free" areas of the US. I suspect that many deniers towing the USAF/NASA party line have grown accustomed to skies other than blue. I have not.
