the conventional understanding is that general motors manufactured cars.

it did more than that. and mismanaged more than that.

consider the detroit diesel operations, for instance.

so mismanaged that they had to be sold off to roger penske, a surrogate for daimler benz.

and then there was emd[the electromotive division]. the entity that created the modern railroad prime mover.

and the GM management f*cked up that claim to monopoly. and to the best of my recollection, was compelled to sell those assets off as well.

GM's problem over the last 20-30 years? A LAZY, INTELLECTUALLY LAZY MANAGEMENT[BOARD OF DIRECTORS].

you may have noticed that the pundits[or is that muppets] went to great lengths to blame GM's demise on the UAW.

THAT WOULD BE WRONG. THE PROBLEMS AFFLICTING GM ORIGINATED IN ITS BOARD ROOM. WHERE NO WORKING MAN/WOMAN WAS ALLOWED ADMITTANCE.
