Just an example of course, but there are many devices used to reflect (and most importantly... concentrate heat.. including Ice...), I feel sorry for the drone(s) tasked to use such a "Heat Ray Weapon", as they will feel their own 'heat' multiplied with a prepared crowd.



Turn such shields around... and the opposing Army will feel the pain stronger than any spear.

Present day crowds can make a crude reflection 'cooker' with a simple Direct TV dish ripped from any backyard, covered in a bit of foil.


(again, just an example, a small bit of modifying will be needed to lengthen the focal point... such as smashing the thing on the ground... lol)
