Caddo deputies work double-fatality accident
September 15, 2007
By John Andrew Prime

Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies worked a wreck this morning in which two people from Barksdale Air Force Base were killed.

The accident, in the 5100 block of Shreveport-Blanchard Highway at 11:30 a.m., claimed the lives of a married couple. Their names have not been released, but the man was 29 and the woman was 32, according to a release from Caddo Parish sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick.

The two were riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, with the husband driving and the wife the passenger, Chadwick said.

"They were traveling behind a northbound Pontiac Aztec driven by Erica Jerry, 35, of Shreveport," Chadwick's release said. "Jerry initiated a left turn into a business parking lot at the same time the man driving the motorcycle attempted to pass her van on the left in a no passing zone. They collided."

The woman passenger on the motorcycle died at the scene, while the husband was taken to LSU Hospital in Shreveport, where he died, the release said.

Further information on the victims is pending notification of their next-of-kin by Barksdale officials, the release said.

How many people does a base like that have?
1000?
2000?
Let's be generous-
4000.

The Republic of Ireland has been critisized for having one of the worst road safety records of the whole European Union-
I counted something like 343:

http://www.rte.ie/news/features/roadsafety/list.html

Over the last seven months, there have been 5 deaths which can be attributed to road accidents in connection with Minot AFB; there also was an additional person missing- presumed dead- in January, which i have not counted in this number because it's not related to a road accident.
Let's assume it stays like that for the remainder of the year.
This would then mean 5 deaths for a population of 4000 for twelve months.

The Republic of Ireland has a population of about 4 million:
343 deaths for 4 million in twelve months.
If we adjust the figures for Minot for a population of 4 million,
it would mean 5000 deaths in twelve months-
in other words, the number of fatal road accidents for that airbase is nearly 15 times as high as that of the Republic of Ireland!?!!???
Mind boggles....... (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Edit:
I'm looking forward to taking a peep at the website of Barksdale AFB... (IMG:http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum/style_emoticons/default/whistle.gif)

They were killed while on a motorcycle. The chances of being killed or injured are much greater on a motorcycle than in a car. Then you have to take into account that most of your service members killed in the states are not killed in training accidents. They are killed in auto accidents.

Since I was unable to find stats for the USAF I used Navy stats. Since the Navy and USAF are similiar in size and have a lot young people they are probably not to far apart. The first link shows Navy personel killed in auto accidents. The second one is the number killed in operational accidents. As you can see for yourself it's much more dangerous driving your car in the states than it is taking part in routine training.

I'm sure that there are plenty of accidents relating to the navy...
My dad was a navy-soldier during WWII- the German navy, to be exact.
Sailors are notorious for their escapades once they get shoreleave; something to do with being at sea for prolonged periods.
If what my dad told me is anything to go by, I'd say I would be *extremely* surprised if the "escapades" of German sailors would not at least be matched by those of American ones (In fact, I'd be surprised if they are not able to out-do their German counter-parts).
As for the airforce- I checked the websites of ten airforce-bases related to CONUS Air Combat Command:

http://pilotsfor911truth.org/forum...opic=9063&st=15

I would assume that it would raise a few eyebrows if pictures in memory of airmen who died in accidents would simply be left out of the picture-series there.
Minot is the only one listing accidents, while Barksdale has only 34 pictures up to begin with. (Which would suggest that it's a new series.)
This in itself doesn't mean much yet; but neither do figures relating to the navy.
Sorry- but unless you can provide airforce figures, I keep an open mind.
