I met Marc Horwitz about eight or nine years ago when he was curating exhibitions here in Oakland. His idea of an exhibition included inviting complete strangers into his artist's loft, which he used as a gallery space, to display whatever they associated with the word "notes". He's currently driving across the country shaping his signature "Marc" on the map as he goes and inviting people to participate in his documentations of "improving America one town at a time." Thinking about it, I've come to believe Andy Warhol was wrong when, some time ago now, he said, "In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes." Looks like we're only going to get about three and a half.
