QUOTE
A building demolition that went badly wrong has been caught on camera in Turkey.

The former factory, built in 1928, was scheduled to be demolished to make way for a shopping mall.

It was supposed to break up when it hit the ground, but instead it rolled over completely - ending up on its roof.

No-one was reported to have been injured.

I guess now that the building has rolled out of the way,
they can start constructing the shopping mall.

This proves that pancakes are only
made in the USA.

At least we still make something.........

They should have consulted with "Lucky Larry" Silverstein. Clearly the building was rolled not pulled!

Actually, it slammed into the adjacent building (and not prevented by hitting a wall). Shows what hazards can occur with eyewitness accounts. Or maybe it was just in the translation. Interesting nevertheless, it did a somersault over the berm . The building it bounced off of performed well, did not come tumbling down too.

thanks for hookin up that gif JFK! my trial use of download manager ran out so i couldnt rip it, and the ITN site didnt have an embed link, so your gif was/is quite handy - i saved a copy.

now i dont know wether comparing the 2 is completely accurate, given the variables in the building construction, but perhaps where gravity and inertia are concerned, the failed turkish demo can be compared to this successful one:

- where the falling section disappeared instead of continuing to topple over. that of course is because it acted as a pile driver crushing down the rest of the building, after causing some inward bowing, or something like that...

Ya, that's an incredible sequence, is it not. I must have watched that same sequence 75 times one night, trying to grasp what was happening, the top down demolition, the energy at work.
