Oh yes... The Wicked Witch of the West, her popularity has dropped off a bit lately.
Provided the rate of soldiers who return home in the cargo hold isn't too high, they can put some patriotic spin on it when the funeral appears on TV.
If nothing more, a convenient distraction from everything else.
